i really like your blog, but it makes me sad that you have so much hatred towards people who aren't vegan. I don't think you should look down on anyone just because they have differing lifestyles. I also feel like you put yourself on kind of a high horse and you feel superior to other people just because you are vegan. seems a little self richeous. I don't support animal cruelty, but I also wouldn't hate someone or think of them as a terrible person just because they eat meat.

I have many friends and family who are not vegan and they, just like everyone have good and bad qualities to them. I don’t necessarily think I’m better than omnivores but I do think that veganism is better than non-vegan diets. Honestly I have pretty piss poor self esteem.

Usually when there’s a difference of opinion I chalk it up to just that, a difference of opinion. However, you wouldn’t defend a child molester, a racist, a murderer, or a rapist just because they have a different lifestyle would you? I use those things very carefully not to be sensationalist but because in their own way they have very much in common with animal consumption. The reason why you or I or anyone with half a brain wouldn’t defend these people is not because their actions are wrong (and they very well are) but because it involves someone beyond themselves and removes the option that other person has completely.

If there was a way that eating meat did not mean the murder of animals, if we just ate animals when they died of natural causes I wouldn’t care. I’ve said before to friends that if we just hunted animals when we needed food I’d probably be alright with that too. As it stands right now we are raising living, breathing, thinking, and most importantly feeling creatures specifically to kill them regardless of whether we have enough food or if there will be someone at the end to eat them.

I admit that there are times when my feelings toward this issue contain a little less tact than I would ordinarily like but is something I feel very strongly about. I like to give free passes to everyone when they are passionate about something just because you can’t always control what you say at that point.

In any case I’ll thank you for the compliment and- although the way you worded it makes me think you might already be veg I’ll say it anyway- wish you do some reading up on the subject. Though you addressed my attitude toward the subject and not the subject itself, still it wouldn’t hurt.
