Thinking there is a purpose to life makes it seem like there is something to achieve beyond one’s own happiness. It turns living into work and puts aside one’s well being and the well being of others to get to something nonexistent. It makes failures out of the destitute and winners out of those who either had their “success” handed to them or got it by ruining the lives of those around them.

As a species, as a country specifically I think we need to appreciate what we have more. Why are we trying to get back what we lost? Were we doing so well when we had it? The sooner we stop reaching for the carrot and realize there’s some pretty good food at our feet the better.
